VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS® Spätburgunder / Frühburgunder – Ahr

A VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS® (GG) is the highest quality level for dry wines from the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP).

A VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS® Spätburgunder or Frühburgunder from the Ahr therefore refers to a dry red wine from classified VDP.GROSSEN LAGEN® in the Ahr region, which:

  • consists exclusively of Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) or Frühburgunder,

  • comes from a top vineyard classified as "Große Lage",

  • meets strictly reduced yields and selective hand harvesting,

  • is aged according to VDP guidelines,

  • adheres to a legally prescribed maturation period (for red wine, longer barrel and bottle aging),

  • and is vinified dry.

It stands for the highest quality of origin, terroir expression, and aging potential within the German wine system.
