Corkscrew / Waiter's Knife Jean Stodden

A waiter's friend (also called a corkscrew) is a practical tool specifically designed to remove corks from wine bottles. It typically consists of the following parts:

1. Blade – A small, curved blade used to remove the aluminum capsule or foil from the bottle neck.

2. Corkscrew – A spiral wire that is screwed into the cork. You twist it into the cork until it is firmly in place.

3. Lever arm (fulcrum) – A sturdy lever mechanism that allows the cork to be pulled out of the bottle by resting the lever arm on the bottle neck and lifting the cork out by pulling.

This combination of cutting, screwing, and leveraging efficiently and controllably removes the cork from the bottle without damaging it.
