2023 Jean Stodden Pinot Noir
Location:
The selected vineyards for the Stodden Spätburgunder are steep and hillside sites. The orientation of the sites is south and southeast. The soils are a sandy-loamy mixture with a partially very high stone content. A pure Spätburgunder, but a cuvée from our sites in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and Dernau.
Vinification:
The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and fermented on the skins at controlled temperatures for 15 days. The malolactic fermentation, aging, and maturation all take place in old 1000 liter Fuder oak barrels. A Spätburgunder site cuvée with great density and substance.
Tasting Notes:
The wine offers a fine freshness. A nuance of red fruits; but it is clearly assertive, youthful, and has good structure.
Recommendation:
The Spätburgunder is often served with veal, wild poultry, game, and poultry pâtés. Adventurous chefs recommend this wine with pan-fried fish.
